🌿 About Us | Modern Apothic

At Modern Apothic, being a woman-owned company, we believe that self-care should be simple, natural, and rooted in intention.

Founded by Melissa, a veteran who served in the Navy, started up Modern Apothic as a passion project to craft high-quality skincare using time-honored techniques and clean, wholesome ingredients. What started in a small kitchen with goat milk and essential oils has grown into a trusted apothecary brand dedicated to sustainability, transparency, and wellness.

We handcraft every product—from cold-process soaps to nourishing butters and tattoo balms—with love, purpose, and respect for both your skin and the environment. Our ingredients are thoughtfully chosen: rich olive oil, pure coconut oil, ethically sourced lard, and therapeutic botanicals. We limit the use of synthetic preservatives to the minimal, only what’s necessary and beneficial.

Our mission is to help you feel confident in what touches your skin—because nature provides everything we need for healthy, radiant living.

  • Soothe inflammation: Oils such as tea tree and calendula have anti-inflammatory and calming properties.

  • Fight bacteria and acne: Tea tree, eucalyptus, and rosemary oils have natural antibacterial effects.

  • Improve circulation and tone: Oils like frankincense and geranium can support skin regeneration and improve tone and texture.

  • Promote healing: Many essential oils encourage cell regeneration and wound healing.

Spices

Spices can have a range of beneficial effects on the skin due to their natural antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties. Here's a brief overview:

  • Enhance circulation: Spices like cinnamon and ginger stimulate blood flow, giving skin a healthy glow.

  • Exfoliate and detoxify: Ground spices such as turmeric and nutmeg help remove dead skin cells and impurities.

  • Fight acne and inflammation: Turmeric, clove, and cinnamon have antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that can help reduce breakouts.

  • Brighten complexion: Spices like turmeric can help even out skin tone and reduce the appearance of dark spots.

  • Provide antioxidants: Many spices are rich in antioxidants that help protect the skin from environmental damage and premature aging.

Flowers

Flowers offer gentle, natural benefits to the skin, often used in oils, waters, and extracts. Here's a brief description of what they do:

  • Soothe and calm: Flowers like chamomile and calendula reduce redness, irritation, and inflammation.

  • Hydrate and soften: Rose and hibiscus help moisturize the skin and improve its texture.

  • Provide antioxidants: Many flowers are rich in antioxidants that protect the skin from environmental stress and signs of aging.

Clay & Charcoal

Clay and charcoal are powerful natural ingredients known for deeply cleansing and detoxifying the skin. Here's a brief overview:

  • Draw out impurities: Both clay and charcoal absorb excess oil, dirt, and toxins from deep within the pores.

  • Control oil and shine: They help balance sebum production, making them ideal for oily or acne-prone skin.

  • Exfoliate and smooth: Clay (like bentonite or kaolin) gently removes dead skin cells, leaving skin smoother and clearer.

  • Reduce breakouts: Their purifying and antibacterial properties can help prevent and reduce acne.

  • Refine pores: Regular use can tighten and minimize the appearance of pores for a more even skin texture.

Oils & Butters

Oils and butters are rich, nourishing ingredients that deeply hydrate and protect the skin. Here's a brief description of what they do:

  • Moisturize and soften: Oils (like jojoba or almond) and butters (like shea or cocoa) lock in moisture, keeping skin smooth and supple.

  • Protect the skin barrier: They form a natural barrier against environmental stressors like wind, cold, and pollution.

  • Soothe irritation: Many contain anti-inflammatory properties that calm dry, itchy, or sensitive skin.

  • Promote healing: Rich in vitamins and fatty acids, they support skin regeneration and repair.

  • Prevent dryness and flakiness: Regular use helps maintain hydration and prevent rough, cracked skin.
